Hi-Vis Workwear Manufacturer — Reflective Tape

High-visibility garments are different from every other product on this site, because compliance is not optional. If a garment is sold as conforming to a visibility standard, the tape, its retro-reflective performance and — critically — its placement all have to meet that standard. Placement in particular is where suppliers cut corners: the tape looks right but sits at the wrong height, which is a compliance failure even though the garment looks correct. We build to the standard you specify and we are explicit about what we can and cannot certify.

Frequently asked questions

Do you certify hi-vis garments to EN ISO 20471?
We build garments to the construction and tape-placement requirements of the standard you specify, and we source tape that carries its own certification. Whether the finished garment carries a certification mark depends on testing the assembled garment, which we will confirm with you in writing for your market. Be cautious of any supplier who offers a certification mark without garment testing — the tape being certified does not make the garment certified.
Why does tape placement matter so much?
Because a garment fails compliance if the tape is in the wrong place, even when the tape itself is correct. The standards specify where the bands sit, how wide the visible portion is, and how much coverage the fluorescent ground colour provides. Placement by eye produces a garment that looks right and cannot be sold as compliant. We position the bands to the standard, not to the sample photo.
How do I keep hi-vis colour bright over its life?
Fluorescent ground colours fade under UV, and washing accelerates it — that is why hi-vis garments have a limited service life and a stated wash-cycle limit. We use colour-retentive dyeing and recommend the wash regime that maximises the garment's service life. For a high-turnover programme, plan on replacement cycles rather than expecting the colour to last indefinitely.
Can logos be embroidered on hi-vis garments?
Yes, but not over the retro-reflective tape. The logo goes on a clear area of the fluorescent panel, and the embroidery must not reduce the visible tape area below the standard's minimum. We check the logo size and position against the tape layout before production so a branding decision does not quietly break compliance.
