Frequently asked questions
Why choose a crewneck over a hoodie?
Two reasons: cost and canvas. It uses less fabric than a hooded garment and skips the hood, drawcord and grommet operations, so it is cheaper at the same weight. It is also a cleaner surface — if your design is a large print or a dense embroidery, the hood and cord only compete with it.
What is the V-insert at the neck for?
It is a traditional sweatshirt detail, and it does real work. The V shape adds a small amount of give at the front neck so the rib does not strain when the garment is pulled over the head. On light fleece it prevents the neck from stretching out; on heavy fleece it is mainly a heritage look. It is optional and we will advise based on your weight.
Can I add a kangaroo pocket to a crewneck?
Yes, but a kangaroo pocket reads as a hoodie feature. On a crewneck most programmes use side pockets or no pocket at all. If you want a pocket, a side-entry pair sits better with the clean lines of the garment.
Does cotton–poly fleece pill?
Conventional cotton–poly can pill. We specify anti-pill fleece for crewneck programmes where the garment will be washed repeatedly — it is a finishing treatment, not a different fibre, and it makes a visible difference to how the garment looks after a season.
