Ringer T-Shirt Manufacturer — Contrast Collar & Cuff

A ringer tee looks simple and is easy to get wrong. The whole garment depends on two small pieces of rib trim, and the failure mode is always the same: the contrast rib is knitted or dyed separately from the body, so it shrinks at a different rate and bleeds onto the body after a few washes. Getting a ringer right means knitting the rib to a compatible shrinkage, dyeing it to a colourfastness standard that matches the body, and stitching it at a density the rib can carry without waviness.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the contrast rib on my current ringer bleed onto the body?
Almost always a dyeing mismatch. If the rib is dyed in a different bath from the body without matching the colourfastness standard, it can migrate colour onto the body during washing. We dye the trim to the same wash fastness as the body and test it. It is a dyeing discipline, not a design choice.
Can the ringer trim be a different material?
It can, but the shrinkage has to be matched or the neck will wave. A cotton body with a cotton–elastane rib is common and works if the rib is pre-relaxed. A synthetic rib on a cotton body is where problems start — we would advise against it unless the whole garment is synthetic.
Is a ringer tee only a vintage product?
No, but the weight determines the feel. At 160–180 gsm it reads as retro; at 220–260 gsm with a compacted finish it looks like a modern premium basic with a design accent. Both are in production here.
Does the contrast cuff cost extra?
Yes, modestly. It is a separate trim piece, so it adds fabric and an extra sewing operation. The bigger cost driver is minimums: a contrast rib colour needs its own dye lot, which is why ringers usually want a slightly larger colour run than a plain tee.
